Laura’s fifth grade performance as Annie in "ANNIE" is what hooked her to musical
theatre. Through constant reinforcement at home, and continued opportunities in her
Long Island School District, Laura found her niche at an early age.
She continued pursuing her passion through her college years while attending the conservatory musical theatre program at Syracuse University. Sharpening her natural instincts by experienced, nurturing faculty, she entered “the business” post graduation
eager, and pounding the pavement.
A three-month hiatus from New York City brought Laura to Rome, Italy. She lived with
family, studied Italian at the Instituto Dante Alighieri (Italian Language School for
Foreigners), and began a rigorous journal-writing routine. When she returned to New
York, she sat at her piano, and put one of her poems to music. The tune “I Wonder”
was delivered. After the birth of nine other
original songs and a story-line, Laura has
created her own musical “SONIA”.

In addition to Laura’s performing and writing credits, she gets much joy from teaching children. She is on the Performing Arts staff at the Wyckoff Family YMCA, and has started the in-house Y Arts Theatre Company. She directs and produces the
community theatre productions, and directs the children shows each summer. She is happy to
have extended an opportunity for her students to perform by offering them
acting and musical theatre classes for the first time.
Laura currently resides in Northern New Jersey. |
